Cleveland Vibrator Co. Showcases New Vacuum Mounted Vibrator Series

Vaccum Mount Series explains features and what sets Cleveland Vibrator above the rest – See it in action here!

Most everyone over, say, 25, knows that time seems to escape you way faster than you’d like. That certainly happens here at Cleveland Vibrator – you turn around and another year or two is gone and you wonder what the heck happen to it. I really felt that way here recently as we just finished up work on a new product.  Sales has been pushing for a “Vacuum Mounted Vibrator Series” for a while now and I’m happy to say we’ve just completed work on the mount and controls for our 1200 VMSAC, air -cushioned piston vibrator and the smaller 1125 VMSAC.

It’s nice to see this option for mounting these two workhorses, the 1200 VMSAC and 1125 VMSAC, onto a variety of surfaces, a quick and easy solution for otherwise difficult or impossible applications.

The “where did the time go” moment came while I was looking through my desk and I discovered a list of possible new products generated by a company brainstorming session. I used to be in the Army Reserves and somewhere along the way, I had to take a NCO development course.  As I recall we did some brainstorming exercises as part of some class (can’t recall why) but I do remember that I thought it was worthwhile and might have some benefit at my “day job”.  So I got the okay to conduct a session with the whole company, top to bottom, manufacturing and front office.  We came up with a list of about 50 ideas – one of those ideas was for a vacuum cup mounted vibrator.  Hard to believe but that was back in June of 2004!  I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun.

So here we are almost 10 years later and Cleveland Vibrator is finally getting this idea out to the market place.  It’s a nice pairing, our robust Vibra-mite piston vibrators  with a vacuum cup.  We’ve mounted the vibrator to a rectangular vacuum cup with a single stage venturi vacuum generator attached directly to the cup along with a mini ball valve.  For controls we have combined a quick disconnect airline fitting with a compact pressure regulator and an on/off slide valve, all mounted on an aluminum body.  The airlines exit the control body via push on fittings and plastic tubing, one for the vibrator and other for the vacuum generator.

  • Operation is quick and easy
  • Connect the control block to a compressed airline, rotate the mini ball valve attached to the vacuum generator and bring the cup into contact with the surface to be vibrated.  The cup is quickly drawn to the surface and securely held in place with the resulting vacuum force.  As with all our pneumatic piston vibrators, the force output of the vibrator is controlled by the inlet air pressure.  With the addition of the regulator, the operator has an easy means to tailor the unit force output to the specific requirements of the application.  Adjust the pressure and then slide the valve and your off and vibrating!  Naturally air pressure can be adjusted while the unit is running; this lets you tune the unit, just the right amount of force for the surface and material to be vibrated.  You’ve got the control in the palm of your hand; adjust as needed for the best results.

So now that I’ve found it, I guess I’ll have to jump in the “way back machine” and revisit that list from time to time, could be some other diamonds in the rough on it.  Need to keep having fun but slow down time a bit, I’ll let you know how that works out!
